Salsify

The last gift of seeds from Henry Harrington. Before entering a rest home, Henry collected the seed from the salsify growing as a ‘weed’ in raised beds in January 2010. In February that year, a SSE field trip was arranged to visit Richard Watson’s farm where Henry gifted the salsify seeds to the SSE before he passed away in spring that year. Martin Tickner found the salsify seeds forgotten in an envelope in the seed shed and planted them at his Kotare Vale property in spring 2014. Six seeds germinated and produced the seed in his harvest.
